THE WORKS OF JESUS CHRIST (DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST)
THE WORKS OF JESUS CHRIST
A. THE DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST
1. Evidence of the Death of Jesus Christ
a. The Soldiers did not break Jesus' legs (John 19:33).
b. Blood and water came out of Jesus' side (John 19:34).
c. Pilate wants to hand over His body to Joseph of Arimathea (Mk 15: 43-45)
d. Jesus' burial was based on Jewish customs
• forgiving Him with “a pure white linen cloth” (Mk 15:46)
Anointed His Body with "a mixture of myrrh and aloes" (John 19:39)
• laid Him "in the tomb which was cut out of the rock" (Mark 15:46).
2. Reasons for the Death of Jesus Christ
a. The Lord Jesus died "For us," that is, we who believe in Him (Romans 8:32; Ephesians 5: 2; Titus 2:14; 1Corinthians 5: 7; 2Corinthians 5:21), the Lord Jesus gave Himself because of the church. . Even though Jesus Christ died because of all humans, He died especially because of His bride, His church (Ephesians 5: 25-27).
b. The Lord Jesus died because of sinners from every tribe and language, and people and nations in this world (Revelation 5: 9). This is the reason for the work of preaching the gospel, that is, that we go out to find and find people from all nations because of them the Lord Jesus died.
c. The Lord Jesus died for the whole world (John 1:29). It is because of His death that Allah can and may give His mercy to the whole world. Christ's death was sufficient for all humans, provided they repent and believe in Him.
d. The Lord Jesus gave Himself the ransom of all people (1Timothy 2: 6). Look, the Lord Jesus died because of all humans. The ransom for all mankind has already been made. Salvation is available to all people, so that God's grace may be preached to all mankind. The ransom for the sins of the people of the whole world has been fulfilled. Forgiveness of sins is available, what is necessary is that people come and receive forgiveness in faith in Jesus Christ.
e. The Lord Jesus experienced death for everyone (Hebrews 2: 9). The Lord Jesus died because of everyone. Not only because of all humanity, but because of each person. God the Father can give mercy to each person and bring salvation through the cause of Christ's death.
f. The Lord Jesus died because of unrighteous people (1Pet 3:18). The Lord Jesus died because of sinners (Romans 5: 8). The Lord Jesus died because of the wicked (Romans 5: 6).
3. Result of the Death of Jesus Christ
a) The results of the death of Jesus Christ for the world
i. By Christ's death all people are drawn to God (John 12: 32,33). The death of Christ became an attraction to all mankind, although some may resist that pull and thus perish. The death of the Lord Jesus made an atoning sacrifice for the whole world (1 John 2: 2). Note: The atoning sacrifice was the reason God gave His grace to this world. All of God's grace is grounded in the death of Jesus Christ. From the cause of His death Allah can give His mercy to anyone.
ii. By His death, the Lord Jesus took away the sins of the world (John 1:29). His death took away the sins of the world so that the way to God would be opened and forgiveness was given to all people.
iii. By the death of the Lord Jesus all people will be raised from the dead (Romans 5:18; 1Corinthians 15:21, 22). It can be a resurrection to gain eternal life or a resurrection to eternal destruction (John 5:28, 29; Daniel 12: 2). Which of these two things we are a part of, is determined by us, whether we accept or reject Jesus Christ.
b) The result of Christ's death for the believer
i. Galatians 3:13, by the death of the Lord Jesus, believers are redeemed from the curse of the Torah. The punishment for our transgressions against the Torah has already applied to Him and the Torah can no longer punish believers.
ii. Colossians 2:14, By His death on the cross, the Lord Jesus has written off our debt, which is the curse for transgressing the Torah. The Lord Jesus has fulfilled all the demands of the law for those of us who believe. Look at Romans 7: 1-4, 6. We died to the law.
iii. Ephesians 2: 11-13,19, By the death of Christ foreign nations who do not belong to Israel's citizenship and do not share in the promised provisions, without hope and without God in the world, are made blessings in Christ by believing. They are made fellow citizens of the saints and members of God's family.
iv. By the blood of the Lord Jesus, believers are redeemed, that is, they receive forgiveness for all their sins. Forgiveness of sins is not something we need to seek, but it is already in the blood of Christ, we only accept what God has provided. 1John 1: 7, for those who live in the light, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses him from all sin.
v. By the blood of the Lord Jesus, a believer is justified, Romans 5: 9, "Justified" means we are carried
