LIFESTYLE OF BELIEVERS (Hebrews 12: 14-15)

LIFESTYLE OF BELIEVERS (Hebrews 12: 14-15)

Greetings, shalom.

INTRODUCTION TO THE SERMON

In a city in America, there is a very kind mother. Every day he always helps people around him (especially those who have disputes with other people). After searching, it turns out that this mother is a minister in the church, she always spends her time for God. Because he wants his life to always do the right thing in God's eyes

SERMON DIRECTION

What is life like for the righteous in Hebrews 12: 14-15

SENTENCE STATEMENT

As for the truth regarding (Title), the life of the righteous in Hebrews 12: 14-15 is as follows:

Ay 14 (POBES 1. Doing the right thing)

Intro: Pobes

In a school there are two friends who are friends, they always work on assignments together, eat together and come home from school together. Once upon a time, they will carry out a midterm exam. All of their friends made a cheat sheet and invited them both to come with them to cheat. Because they both were always ordered by their parents to always do the right thing. Likewise we our brothers and sisters, as righteous people we must always do the right thing, even though the people around us do wrong. (There is a fear of not getting a bad score, surely we will try so that it doesn't happen so that sometimes we do something to get good marks for cooperation, make a cheat sheet? Is that the right action ??? Of course not.

Pocil 1 (Make Peace)

In this verse it is said that we should try to live in peace, without enmity (living a life of calm, tranquility) with everyone / not being picky. The word try in the original language is a command sentence; so we as righteous people must pursue peace to everyone. It means that here it takes an action from the heart, to continuously pursue that peace. Living in peace here, of course, does not mean pursuing peace or peace by being the same or similar to those around (people who do not know God) Romans 14:19

Illustration:. There are people fighting because of land boundaries, even until I die I will not want to make peace with you. It is not a characteristic of the righteous life, there is no peace,

• Application: - learn to forgive the mistakes of friends

• Understand friends, so that we can make peace with everyone

Pocil 2. Live holy

The second life of the righteous is to live holy. In this verse we are taught / ordered not only to be at peace, but also to live holy (free from sin). In the Indonesian Bible, daily life is holy (especially for God), where our lives must be in accordance with God's provisions because of the purpose. we live holy is so that we relate to God.

Illustration: Joseph, who did not follow the persuasion of Aunt Potiphar, because he loved God, he did not want to defile himself with sins

Application: realizing that we belong to Christ, therefore we must live according to God's will

Sentence Transition to Pobes 2

Ay3-4 (POBES 2: Have a sense of care)

Intro: Pobes

There is a seller who is jealous of his friend who is both selling, because his friend's sales are more than what he sells. Once upon a time, this best-selling mother fell, because her luggage was too heavy, this mother ignored her because she hated her so much. However, we as righteous people (people who have been saved) are not like that, but we must have a sense of care, sympathy for the people around us.

Pocil 1. Watching that no one may distance himself from the grace of God

We, as Believers, are commanded to guard that no one should distance themselves from the grace of God. (There are Hebrews who want to apostatize). A person who keeps away from God's grace is a person who deliberately refuses to accept God's goodness and God's mercy in his life. And a person in this situation is a person who will live in extraordinary hardship and a person like this will live in bitterness. There is a danger that arises in the life of anyone and anyone if as Christians we allow ourselves to live in one condition. bitterness continues to eat away. The word "riot" is synonymous with troublesome. The person whose heart is bitter, the person who lives in bitterness is the one whose life causes many people to be troubled

Jesus bless you.
