DEVOTIONAL "PERSISTENCE IN FAITH IN Colossians 1:23"

 

PERSISTENT IN FAITH

Colossians 1:23 (NIV) "Therefore you must persevere in the faith, standing firm and not being shaken, and not being displaced from the hope of the gospel, which you have heard and preached in all nature under heaven, and which I, Paul, has become his servant."

My dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, why did the Apostle Paul ask the Lord's church in Colossae to persevere in the faith? Because believers need firm faith to be able to achieve perfection like Christ. Brother, Let's look at the next verse. Colossians 1:28-29 (NIV) 28 "It is he whom we preach when we advise everyone and teach everyone in all wisdom, to lead everyone to perfection in Christ. 29 This is what I seek and do. I wrestle with all my might according to his power, which is mighty at work in me."            

To reach the level of perfection of Christ is not only very difficult but impossible without faith, and Faith comes from hearing and hearing by the Word of God. For Allah, nothing is impossible as long as we believe and struggle and strive for salvation with fear and trembling. Striving for salvation is the same as achieving perfection in Christ, so that when He comes He finds us steadfast in the Faith. The opportunity to struggle only exists when we are still alive. For those who struggle, God will give power and work in us. Philippians 2:13 (NIV) for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."

We are never alone, there is a God who is with us through His holy Spirit, who leads us to all truth. Let us persevere in faith as long as we live and receive His promises that are provided for us who love God.
