EXPLANATION OF THE LETTER OF ROME

ROME LETTER

The origin of the church in Rome is thought to believe in "becoming Christians" without the establishment of the apostles. Since Paul clearly says in 15:20 that he did not build the church “another man's former”, Peter is also difficult to assume that he founded the church of Rome, because he was still in Jerusalem in AD 50 in the events of the General Assembly. While the Romans probably existed before that. It is also possible that the Romans stood at the time of Pentecost in Acts. 2:10 which mentions the Jews came from Rome, so it is possible that the people who had seen the events on the day of Pentecost became converted and brought many souls, even though the premise above states that it is impossible for the church to stand without the Apostles who witnessed it , the power of the Holy Spirit can work for anyone, as long as they speak the truth of God's word (in my opinion). Moreover, when Christians who were on their way stopped and brought records of the teachings and sermons of the Apostles which added to their knowledge of the life and teachings of Jesus.

The church in Rome is thought to be predominantly Gentile, which refers to chapters 1:1-14 which refers to them as “other Gentiles” At 6:19 which refers to the Gentile group, in 11:13, 28-31 which also refers to non-Jewish national groups, etc. The Epistle to Romans was written sometime between AD 57-59 when the five-year period of Nero's reign, when law and order was established throughout the land, relates to Paul's counsel on “rule” (13:1). The events or Bible data that are observed are, Paul wants to visit to evangelize and give spiritual gifts (1:11,15), deliver aids to the saints in Jerusalem and cannot pass through Rome for a while.

There are many opinions regarding the purpose of writing this letter, there are those who think that Paul's writing is against the doctrine of salvation, is conciliatory to the congregation there, both Jews and non-Jews, is doctrinal that can be observed, aims also to summarize the journey of his experience, and to meet needs. the reader is to answer the problems that occur at that time.

Regarding the problem of the doxology of this letter to Romans, whether in chapter 15 or 16, to refer to that the delivery of chapter 16 is to the church in Ephesus with some evidence, but this does not lead to reaching a solution, but instead adds to the confusion. With so many clever theologians trying to find a point in understanding this text, with so many theories and considerations, it would be nice to accept the whole letter of Romans as a unit.

Romans Outline:

I. Introduction (1:1-15)

II. Doctrinal Exposition (1:16-8:39)

III. Historical Problem (9:1-11:36)

IV. Practical Advice (12:1-15:13)

V. Conclusion (15:14-16:27)

Interesting things:

- It turns out that the doxology of this letter is confusing and I only got this knowledge from this book.

It turns out that it is not easy to make an elaboration or a conclusion, coupled with so many opinions that are sometimes contradictory and with arguments so convincing that it influences the author's thinking to conclude. Seen in ". . . but it adds to the confusion”(Page 13), “. . . But beyond such theories, there is a growing readiness to accept the entire Romans as a unit.”
