Noting New and Interesting Things From the Letters of Galatians

New and interesting things Galatian letter

1.      The region of Galatia is considered Located in the north of the Province of Galatia

2.      This evangelistic work (Paul founded the church) took place on the second missionary trip after Paul was forbidden to preach the gospel in Asia (Acts 16:6)

3.      Galatians was written at the time Paul was on his third missionary journey

4.      This theory is called the North Galatian theory, the region of North Galatia was once inhabited by the Phrygians

5.      At the time Paul and his companions crossed Phrygia and Galatia but this refers to the region of North Galatia

6.      There is also an alternative theory of the Galatian sura referring to Lycaonia, Pisida and parts of Phrygia so it is known as the Southern Galatian theory

7.      Dating according to the theory of Northern Galatians is at the beginning of the ministry of Ephesus (this theory is not strong because it seems to refer more to the conversion of the church in Galatia

8.      The alternative according to the North Galatian theory is after Paul left Ephesus. (According to Lightfoot Galatians precedes Romans, because Romans shows a more mature approach to a similar problem

9.      Dating according to Southern Galatian theory depends on how the reader understands Paul's second visit which has implications for Galatians 4:13. (1) if the second visit refers to Acts 16:6, this letter was written after the congregation in Jerusalem, (2) if the second visit refers to Acts 14:21 when Paul and Barnabas returned to visit the churches in Southern Galatia, hence this letter was written before the Jerusalem congregation around AD 49, (3) if according to Galatians 4:13 indicates only one initial visit, so still need to weigh to determine which alternative is chosen which is recorded in Acts or in Galatians

10.  According to Kirsop Lake, the purpose of writing Galatians was to protect Gentile converts from the attempts of local Jews who tried to seize them

11.  The resistance that existed in the Galatian church according to J. Munck's theory was Gentile Judaism

12.  According to the author, the sources of resistance in the Galatians were Jewish Christians from Jerusalem, because Paul said that there was one person who made things difficult for them (Galatians 3:1; 5:7)

These are new and interesting things that I got because I just found out about this, and the unique thing is about the difference of opinion regarding the calendar.
