                                         OFFICE OF JESUS CHRIST

According to the Bible, the office of Jesus Christ can be divided into three parts, namely the office as Prophet, as High Priest, and as King.

A. JESUS CHRIST AS A PROPHET

1. Definition of the word "Prophet"

The word “prophet”, (Hebrew: - navi') means to give information, to preach. Also referred to as seeing ( – haro'eh from – ra'ah). For example, Samuel refers to himself as – haro'eh in 1 Samuel 9:19, and is called - HARO'EH in 1 Chronicles 9:22, 26:28, and 29:29.

There are times when the word prophet is also called "Man of God" (Man Of God), "Messenger of God" (Messenger Of God) and "Watch Man" (Watch Man).

In Greek, the word prophet is prophetes which consists of two words pro which means "open" or "come out" and phemi which means "to say". From that understanding, the prophet is not only a person who conveys meaning, but also has the meaning of "proclaiming" news from God, things that have happened and are now happening.

3. Jesus' Work as a Prophet

In the Old Testament a prophet accomplished his work in three ways, namely by teaching, prophesying and performing miracles. These three works were done by Jesus as a prophet, He taught (Matthew 5:1-7:29), He prophesied (Matthew 24:1-51), and He performed miracles and healed people, (Matthew 8:1-9:38). ). The meaning of His position was acknowledged and revealed by Jesus himself (Mark 6:4, Luke 4:24 and Luke 13:33).

In the Old Testament, a priest (כהֶן – Kohen) was a person who served God in a religious relationship, but in a political sphere (1Ki 4:5; 2 Sam 8:18; 20:26). In the NT, the priest is the "hiereus" who has authority and then has the meaning of "holy man" who dedicated his life to God.
